Scott came to see me for four sessions sponsored by his company after he was stalling on taking up a job offer that involved an interstate move. He wanted to become a General Manager but when asked what that looked like, he did not know. Scott admitted that he did not spend much time on his career management and just took opportunities as they came to him. He had been with his present company for over 10 years.
Using a personality profiling tool and exercises on values and strengths we assessed Scott’s preferred work and leadership styles. Through this investigation Scott discovered a clear picture of the type of General Manager he wanted to become. He then had the discussion with his manager that he had been putting off for some time and was able to secure a role that fulfilled his career aspirations as well as meeting the needs of the organisation.
